| World Federalist Movement The World Federalist Movement (WFM) is an international citizen's movement working for justice, peace, and sustainable prosperity. We call for an end to the rule of force through a world governed by law, based on strengthened and democratized world institutions. World Federalists are united in seeking to bring peace and justice to the world community through effective global institutions and binding international law. WFM was founded in 1947 in Montreaux, Switzerland. From there it has grown to include members around the world and is now headquartered in New York. Its members meet annually at a Council Meeting. World Federalists support the creation of democratic global structures accountable to the citizens of the world. WFM sponsors seminars, meets with high-level officials at the UN, and collaborates with other NGO's to spread its ideals. WFM's main program areas are:
Promoting the Rule of Law and Defending Human Rights WFM advocates for the fundamental strengthening of international law and global institutions to protect human rights throughout the world. International Peace and Security Ongoing and devastating regional and internal conflicts continue to highlight the need for a comprehensive system of global security for a long-term solution. WFM continues its effort in areas that culd lead to preventing future conflicts in the aspiration of creating lasting peace. Strengthening and Democratizing the United Nations WFM works to ensure that elections at the UN are conducted in a fiar and just manner. WFM also defends the rights of citizens and citizens groups at the United Nations. Global Economic Governance WFM promotes global and regional structures to address global environment, development and population changes. Global Environmental Governance WFM believes that fundamental issues relating to the development of international democracy and global governance are inextricably tied to issues of global governance for sustainable development and the environment. Promoting Federalism and Constitutional Democracy WFM is working to create more democratic, empowered federal bodies around the world. WFM is monitoring the efforts of the African Union (AU), the Americas - Organization of American States (OAS), Asia - Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
WFM publishes WFM News, the ICC Monitor, and the Insight on the ICC four times each year.
